Job Summary

Job Overview:

Under the general supervision of the EL Secondary Summer School Coordinator the teacher provides an instructional program consistent with the goals and objectives of the School Division as we strive toward student-centered learning. The teacher implements an engaging effective and personalized learning program delivered in a virtual environment that includes small-group instruction and a strong focus on literacy and oral language while using high-yield learning strategies and digital content aligned with targeted learning goals to meet individual student needs.

The teacher collaborates with school staff to maintain a learning environment conducive to learning and supportive of appropriate student behavior. The teacher effectively uses available tools technologies and resources to ensure a successful online summer school program.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Engage in required professional development contributing actively to ongoing learning and collaborative improvement efforts.
  • Implement professional development expectations within a virtual context including:
    • Designing opportunities for sustained oracy during online lessons facilitating effective virtual small-group instruction embedding literacy components into digital learning tasks regularly analyzing formative data (e.g. virtual observations student reflections digital quick checks learning platform usage analytics) along with EL academic data to strengthen personalized learning experiences and support student progress.
  • Continuously assess document and share student achievement data with learners through virtual conferences digital goal-setting tools and online progress monitoring systems. Maintain accurate assessment records for institutional and individual reporting requirements.
  • Plan and implement high-quality virtual instructional strategies including:
    • Selecting and adapting appropriate digital materials and scaffolded resources providing meaningful and engaging online learning experiences aligned with the curriculum provided maximizing learning time within virtual sessions and integrating a variety of digital instructional tools multimedia resources and educational technology platforms to enhance language development and content understanding.
  • Effectively manage student behavior and engagement in the virtual classroom maintaining a positive structured online environment conducive to learning. Support schoolwide expectations for behavior and participation across virtual programs and platforms.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians using virtual tools email learning management system updates and other digital communication channels ensuring strong partnerships that support student learning and well-being.

Qualifications:

  • Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure (EL endorsement preferred)

Knowledge of content curriculum methods materials and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned; knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent growth and development; knowledge of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) curriculum related to assignments and School Division mission goals and organization; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; skill in the use of multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning; ability to plan and implement lessons based on Division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers administrators and parents; skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.

Dates:July 6 - July 24 2026

Daily Hours: 4.5 hours/day

Hourly Band 15 ($39.14)

Salary Scale: Work Eligible:This position is eligible for remote work but also may require in-person attendance at job-related meetings training sessions and conferences as requested by the employees supervisor.

Candidate must live within a commutable distance of Loudoun County Public Schools
