Role: Packaging Operator 1
Location: St. Louis MO 63118
Rate: $23/hour 10% Shift Differential
Shift: 3rd Shift Monday to Thursday 10:00 PM 8:30 AM (4x10 schedule)
Training: 1st Shift (MondayFriday 6:00 AM 2:30 PM) for 23 months
Duration: 12 months
Work Environment: Production / Manufacturing (NOT a warehouse role)
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Technician II is responsible for executing production operations in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role supports the manufacturing of liquid media products by operating equipment performing cleaning and sanitation procedures completing batch documentation and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
This is a hands-on industrial manufacturing role requiring mechanical aptitude attention to detail and the ability to work in a cleanroom environment while wearing required PPE including respirators.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Equipment Operation
- Operate processing and packaging equipment including:
- COP (Clean-Out-of-Place)
- CIP (Clean-In-Place)
- Kaps All Torquer
- Labeling lines
- Perform bottle torque and torque testing (manual and automated)
- Execute batch records in SAP (electronic Batch Records eBR)
- Pull bottles from inventory and pass through to Class 100 cleanroom
- Apply pinch clamps and perform packaging of bags/bottles
- Perform routine and monthly phenolic cleaning of manufacturing rooms
- Conduct waste disposal and manual cleaning of small parts
Documentation & Compliance
- Accurately document production activities and equipment status
- Complete and maintain required logbooks
- Communicate deviations or process issues to supervisors
- Ensure proper labeling of in-process equipment and containers
- Follow all SOPs safety policies and production procedures
Safety & Quality
- Maintain clean and organized work areas (Good Housekeeping)
- Use clean and store PPE appropriately
- Take immediate action to resolve unsafe conditions
- Participate in required safety and quality training
- Perform work in compliance with company and regulatory standards
Qualifications
Required Education
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency (SAP experience preferred)
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow detailed written procedures
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Production/manufacturing environment
- Standing for extended periods
- Lifting and pushing up to 50 lbs
- Required to wear PPE including respirators for extended periods
- Exposure to chemicals requiring protective equipment
- Must be able to work night shift (after training)
- Standard physical exam required
- No forklift operation required
- No exposure to blood or blood products
