Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Communications Intern in our Federal Government Consulting / Strategic Communications Group who is interested in business communications and consulting to support both our municipal and federal clients.

This position is designed to introduce and build essential hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic area and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad well-rounded learning.

This position is expected to begin in May 2026 in Chelmsford MA.

Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques procedures and criteria to carry out business related and financial tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Support internal and external communications
  • Support projects with tabulating / reviewing project budgets.
  • Support projects with complying with the project quality requirements.
  • Support projects with miscellaneous administrative tasks including report writing / editing employee travel coordination and subcontractor support.
  • Work under supervision of a project engineer or project manager

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing a business or communications degree. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelors degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Must have completed one year of study.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn.
  • A strong sense of commitment a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong logic skills and writing skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Documents time and effort accurately.
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
