Job Summary

You will contribute to the administration operation support and development of Geographic Information System (GIS) applications including web interfaces to share geospatial information. You will be part of the Geomatics team in charge of measuring collecting and managing geospatial data related to CERN infrastructure and equipment within the Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department.

Your responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Future Collider Studies (e.g. FCC Muon Collider) to ensure the reliability and continuous improvement of dedicated GIS applications.
  • Implement additional developments and enhancements to current web applications.
  • Maintain and support existing GIS web applications for CERN and external users.
  • Perform computing tasks related to GIS infrastructure and databases.

Your profile:

  • Initial experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) particularly the ESRI suite and in managing geospatial data related to infrastructure and equipment.
  • Initial experience in the development of web-based GIS applications and their maintenance.
  • Initial experience in developing tools and scripts related to geospatial information and associated databases.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of and interest in geodesy.
  • Strong foundations in GIS software (desktop and server) ideally the ESRI suite (ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise) and programming in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Practical knowledge of web technologies including JavaScript HTML5 and CSS and of web services (SOAP/REST) for system integration as well as version control systems (Git).
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously and a proactive mindset.
  • Spoken and written English or French with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Eligibility criteria:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Geomatics GIS computing (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelors or Masters degree.
  • You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
  • Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information :

Job closing date: 12.04.2026 at 23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week
