Position Summary
Security Operations Charge officer position presents a unique opportunity for those with leadership aspirations. As part of our management structure you will have the opportunity to mentor train and provide direction to fellow team members. Duties
- Training of general duties report writing and orientation.
- Facilitation with guard recruitment and training.
- Accounting for guards on duty including overtime lateness and rest periods.
- Performing an audit of equipment supplies and report deficiencies.
- Shift summaries of events including areas patrolled and number of incident reports.
- In the absence of management team lead with incident management
- Provide guidance/advice to the other guards pertaining to the general duties
- Relieving and/or assigning relief for the SOC/TR-C
- Ensuring incident reports (for all guards) are completed and submitted before the end of shift
- Reviewing incident reports for completeness accuracy and follow up
- Reviewing the charge guard logs from the previous shifts
- Effective exchange of information to relieving charge guard
- Work collaboratively with the management team to resolve and/or troubleshoot issues
- Ensure morgue information is accurate and maintained at the beginning and at the end of shift
- Conducting or assigning routine checks of found property contents to maintain content accuracy and returns
- Notifying management when articles have surpassed retention periods in accordance with policy
- Cross-referencing guard memo books with the SOC/TR-C operator to verify all documentation concerning the operation
- Perform audit of equipment on hand and recording any deficiencies including the radios and mic extensions emergency pagers and bolt cutters
- Record contents of the Code White bag
- Record summary of shift events including areas patrolled and number of incident reports
- Assume the leadership responsibility of emergencies and unusual incidents
- Delegate duties where necessary e.g. standby regarding patient watches relief of guards in fixed posts
- Relief of SOC/TR-C operators in lieu of a supervisor
- Work collectively with the management team and SOC/TR-C operators to resolve and/or troubleshoot minor issues.
Qualifications :
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
- Completion of a Law Enforcement/Law Security diploma from a recognized institution Security program or equivalent
- Current & Valid Security License in accordance with the Private Security and Investigative Services Act of Ontario
- Minimum five (5) years recent security experience in a healthcare environment
- Demonstrate leadership communications and problem solving skills
- The ability to collaborate and work with hospital leadership
- Possess strong knowledge of UHN and departmental policies and procedures.
- Contributing to and facilitating in the provision of a safe environment for patients staff and visitors which support the mission goals and vision of University Health Network
- Responding to emergency codes and calls for assistance following established hospital policies
- Demonstrated computer literacy in MS Word Excel and Outlook
- Demonstrated complete and accurate report writing skills
- Must be able to work shifts on short notice and on an as needed basis.
- Excellent problem recognition skills and ability to proactively achieve resolutions both through direction and negotiation.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Federal and Provincial statutes
- Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent judgment and demonstrate tact and diplomacy skills in emergency situations
- Completion of a Crisis Intervention certificate preferred
- Certification in Legal Awareness and Use of Force MLEO Tactical Communications preferred
- Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program preferred
