Job Description

At Atlas were providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive and if youre a Construction Inspector ready to ensure construction quality safety and code compliance and committed to doing meaningful work then this is your moment. Youll inspect and evaluate construction work review plans and specifications document findings issue corrective guidance and collaborate with contractors engineers and regulatory authorities to uphold ICC standards and project requirements.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections in accordance with International Code Council (ICC) AWS standards and applicable local state and federal regulations.
  • Review construction plans and specifications to ensure compliance with building codes safety standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of reinforced concrete masonry and fireproofing for code compliance.
  • Document inspection findings accurately and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
  • Issue correction notices and provide guidance to contractors and project managers on code-related issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ICC codes amendments and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with builders engineers and municipal authorities to resolve compliance issues.
  • Participate in continuing education and certification renewals to maintain ICC credentials.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance programs for construction projects.
  • Assist in laboratory testing and analysis of construction materials as needed.
  • Accurately track time materials and supplies used on assigned projects.
  • Maintain documentation of training hours and certifications as required.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails promptly and professionally.
  • Uphold a professional image for yourself and represent Atlas property standards at all times.
  • Complete daily timecards and expense reports at the end of each shift.
  • Support workload demands in Pocatello Idaho Falls and surrounding areas as directed.
  • Ensure all required safety documentation and reporting are completed in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Pursue new and maintain relevant certifications such as ACI ICC and WAQTC Testing Technician etc.

  • High school graduate or education level commensurate with position requirements with strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Professional demeanor even temperament personal integrity and ability to make project-related decisions impartially
  • Good general math skills; understanding of constants physical sciences and the fundamentals of welding
  • Self-motivated flexible and adaptable; team oriented with ability to prioritize
  • Detail oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Work well with other employees and construction-related personnel
  • Technical reading writing and research
  • Read and interpret Project Plans (drawings) and Specifications
  • Valid Drivers License is Required
  • Possess physical dexterity to perform field tests including lifting up to 50 pounds repeated bending twisting and turning climbing (ladders scaffolds and stairs) walking distances on irregular surfaces and standing for considerable periods.
  • Ability to maintain safety consciousness at all times while working driving and on moving through construction sites and around heavy construction equipment and vehicles.
  • Ability to tolerate and work outdoors in extreme climatic conditions.
  • Ability to drive safely and main alertness in varying driving conditions including poor road conditions long distances in heavy traffic and among heavy construction equipment and vehicles.
  • AWS - Certified Welding Inspector Certificate (CWI)
  • The following are certifications that while not requisite to this position provide the Field Inspector with additional testing and inspection capabilities:
    • ACI Field Testing Technician Level 1
    • Radiation Safety Training and Nuclear Density Gauge Operation
    • Soils (Aggregate and Embankment) Training
    • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
    • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
    • ICC Structural Steel Special Inspector
    • ICC Pre-stressed Concrete Special Inspector
    • ICC Spray Applied Fire Proofing Inspector Certificate

This position Requires availability at the contractors convenience. This includes any and all hours and days necessary to fulfill the needs of the projects construction schedule. The position requires the ability to respond on short notice and at irregular hours to work overtime nights weekends or holidays with occasional overnight trips for out-of-town projects.
