Technical Claims Consultant Commercial Liability

The Role:
Direct Line Group is evolving and our Commercial Claims function is at the heart of that transformation. As a Technical Claims Consultant within our Commercial Liability Direct team you will manage complex and highvalue liability claims while acting as a trusted technical expert across the business. You will play a key role within our Large & Complex Loss Specialist Claims function helping to deliver fair outcomes technical excellence and continuous improvement in claims handling.
What youll be doing:
Managing a portfolio of complex and highvalue Employers Public Disease and Product Liability claims within delegated authority
Leading detailed investigations instructing external experts and confirming indemnity positions through robust policy analysis
Working closely with solicitors and counsel on liability assessment litigation strategy and policy interpretation
Negotiating fair timely and commercially appropriate settlements while balancing legal and customer outcomes
Acting as a technical specialist coaching colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement in claims strategy and processes
What youll need:
Proven experience handling complex commercial liability claims including EL PL Disease and Product Liability
Strong technical knowledge of common law liability principles and insurance legislation
Experience managing highervalue or complex losses with confident decisionmaking within authority
Ability to coach mentor or provide technical guidance to develop others capability
Excellent analytical communication and negotiation skills with confidence influencing senior stakeholders
