Make a Difference
The Vice President (VP) of Operations provides executive leadership and operational oversight for key hospital services including facilities security support services imaging and pharmacy. This role is accountable for operational excellence caregiver engagement quality and safety performance and financial outcomes. The VP of Operations partners closely with hospital and regional leaders physicians caregivers and product line teams to ensure operations are aligned with patient care priorities and organizational goals.
The VP of Operations:
Serves as a key member of the hospital Executive Leadership Team and participates in systemwide committees and initiatives
Ensures that all assigned departments meet or exceed growth objectives (volumes) financial objectives (margins/cost per UOS) and value-based purchasing objectives (HCAHPS and core measures) and payer certifications as required
Provides executive leadership for designated operational areas with accountability for quality safety throughput caregiver engagement culture and financial performance
Treats quality and patient safety as nonnegotiable operational priorities embedding them into daily operations and decision making
Drives operational efficiencies through throughput management process improvement and datadriven decision making
Executes relentlessly on operational priorities ensuring strategies translate into measurable results
Creates accountability while preserving trust engagement and a positive caregiver culture
Aligns operational leaders and teams to hospital regional and network goals
Partners effectively with physicians and medical staff to align operations with clinical and patient care priorities
Exceptional Skills and Qualifications
This role is designed for experienced acute care operational leaders who have held significant accountability for hospital performance. Applicants for this position should be able to demonstrate strategic and systems thinking paired with the ability to execute with urgency and focus.
Bachelors Degree in a Healthcare or Business-related discipline required
Minimum of 7 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience at the director level or above
Recent extensive acute care experience in one or more operational areas with increasing responsibility over time
Must be able to work in a matrixed environment
Candidate will have experience and successful track record in operations including but not limited to refinement and execution of Network and regional business plans line responsibilities for clinical services regulatory compliance performance management and relationship building
Extensive background in performance improvement/lean is strongly preferred
Must possess knowledge and demonstrate proficient leadership skillsets in healthcare strategy development physician partnership financial planning and execution (including productivity measurements) and staff performance management
Lead support communicate and partner with the hospital Physician Executive as it relates to medical staff engagement and provision of services and outcomes
Support successful and continued application of quality safety and process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean and related QI philosophies tactics and technology
Support transformation of care and support delivery systems as it relates to areas of responsibility and how such functions connect with other services of the hospital Region and Network
