The Role

We are seeking immediate applicants for On-call Skilled Labourers and Junior Apprentices for work in the Peace Region.

These on-call jobs require candidates to be physically fit capable of wearing a respirator and have strong communication skills.

Compensation

• Wages are based on experience.
• Bi-weekly Pay

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Complete tasks in line with OCL and industry standards procedures and practices
• Assist skilled trades as required
• Operate basic hand and power tools safety and effectively
• Set up and dismantle temporary structures barricades and safety fencing if required
• Perform spotting and flagging duties when required
• Read and understand site-specific instructions prior to each shift
• Site cleaning and preparation
• Digging and trenching
• Maintain a clean and organized work area / job site
• Participate in daily toolbox meetings
• Perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience/Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Skilled Labourer in industrial construction environments
• Previous experience working as an Apprentice in an industrial construction environment
• Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools
• Strong understanding of construction site safety practices and hazard awareness
• Physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual labour (lifting up to 50lbs bending standing and working in various weather conditions)
• Valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
• Ensure a safe team environment. Strong teamwork skills with a positive and reliable work ethic
• Strong communication skills. Ability to follow and understand instructions given.
• Must have reliable transportation a valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract
• Must have the following safety tickets: WHMIS 2015 Fall Arrest Confined Space
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
• Must be clean shaven and fit-tested (½ face)
• Must reside in or around Dawson Creek
