Summary of Position:

Perform a variety of operations to assemble Probes sensors booms and other products used on and in aircraft. Assemblies include parts from sheet metal wiring and other components. Tasks include aligning and assembly of parts cutting material to specific dimensions use of hand tools and templates work from diagrams drawings specifications and shop orders. Assembly may include other operations such as sawing burring crimping trimming drilling reaming and riveting. Measure parts with a variety of methods to verify dimensions. May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes and perform reworks. Performs other duties as assigned. Work performance is directed by a Production Manager and is reviewed through reports and effectiveness of results obtained.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

The assembly technician will work from manufacturing instructions diagrams drawings as well as verbal instructions using a basic array of hand tools including wire strippers crimpers torque wrenches multi-meters microscopes soldering and/or brazing equipment

May disassemble modify rework reassemble and test prototype and production released assemblies and subassemblies according to instructions and specifications

Performs a variety of assembly operations on complex units or sub-units of precision production parts and components involving precision fittings and tolerances.

Perform the assembly of tools according to their specifications and instructions including using test instruments for calibration and advanced adjustments.

Identify and defective items and handle them according to established procedures.

Collect material and equipment needed to begin the process

Work from layouts prints specifications route sheets and general instructions

Ability to shift between different activities and work tasks in a fast paced and exciting environment

Maintain equipment in good condition and check for calibration due dates

Report on issues malfunction defective part or defective equipment

Test finished products for defects

May operate machinery such as sand blaster press and laser welder

Perform general departmental housekeeping regularly

Sustain production standards and quality

Perform in-process visual inspections dimensional inspections and cosmetic final clean up

Regular attendance and punctuality required

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent education training and/or related work experience.

0-2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment

Must have brazing experience.

Must be able to work with ITAR products and related data without restriction.

Skill Set Required:

Use of basic hand tools and measuring devices (calipers etc.)

Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation

Basic computer skills

Basic math skills (i.e. may have to do conversions to decimals)

Basic verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

Restrictions limited only by individuals inability to perform essential job duties and where an unsafe condition would result for the individual or surrounding employees.

Required lifting weight: 35 lbs. Lifting Frequency: Daily

  • Sitting standing reaching bending and moving for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a Manufacturing environment.

Work Environment:

  • Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
  • Requires repetitive movement

Safety Hazard:

  • Works with power tools and equipment.
  • Requires the use of proper PPE when necessary
  • Completes Soldering Brazing and Polishing as needed.
