About the Role:
Reporting to the Vice President of Innovation & Technology the Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet regulatory customer licensor and internal requirements while driving sustainable improvements across the organization.
This hybrid role combines quality assurance leadership with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency reduce waste and optimize product quality. The position also provides strategic direction leadership and oversight of quality assurance and quality control functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Leadership
Lead the Quality department overseeing all personnel and departmental activities through direct reports (QA Manager QC Manager and Quality Engineer)
Develop and implement the strategic direction for the Quality function aligned with organizational goals
Ensure compliance with applicable codes standards and quality management systems
Collaborate with plant leadership to implement and sustain process improvements on the production floor
Oversee and enhance quality management system (QMS) processes and procedures
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and inspection processes
Continuous Improvement:
Champion a culture of continuous improvement across the organization
Develop and implement training programs on Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies
Partner with senior leadership to standardize processes improve workflows and reduce variability
Lead and mentor teams in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Root Cause Analysis 5S Kaizen FMEA and Value Stream Mapping
Support the application of Six Sigma tools to improve product quality and operational performance.
People & Department Management:
Lead mentor and develop the Quality team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
Partner with leadership and HR to recruit retain and develop talent within the department
Establish performance expectations conduct evaluations and provide ongoing feedback
Identify and support training requirements related to quality and compliance
Promote a strong focus on risk management safety and accountability.
Strategic & Leadership Contribution:
Act as a key member of the Senior Management Team contributing to organizational strategy and performance
Collaborate with executive leadership to drive short- and long-term strategic initiatives
Monitor and report on key performance indicators including quality delivery revenue and operational metrics
Lead cross-functional collaboration to resolve operational challenges and improve overall performance
Ensure issues are analyzed for root cause and resolved in a timely and compliant manner
Qualifications & Experience:
Professional Engineer (.) or Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng.); active membership or eligibility with APEGA
15 years of experience in QA/QC within a manufacturing or machining environment (or similar industry)
10 years of leadership experience managing teams in a supervisory or managerial capacity
Formal training (Green Belt or higher) in Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma or equivalent methodologies
ISO Auditor certification is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems within industrial environments (oil & gas experience is an asset)
