This is an exciting new vacancy for a Performance Technician to work alongside staff and students in the classroom workshops and on performance assessments and productions.
The role will cover general technical duties across campus including evening and weekends
About the Role
Within the role you will provide performance based technical support for student work productions visiting companies and BSU Conferencing. When there are no productions you will be required to carry out general maintenance of equipment and spaces during the regular working day. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day operational requirements of our production spaces. As the role is performance based working hours will vary frequently. However where possible candidates will be provided with the schedule a month in advance.
This role will support the wider team of Technicians Technical Demonstrators Academic and Professional Services staff as well as work directly with students to support and enhance the teaching learning and student experience.
About You
Lighting theory rigging and programming.
Sound system set up and operation.
Projection and projection mapping.
Use of networking and infrastructure in a theatrical environment.
QLab show control software.
Professional experience in subject area
Good knowledge of H&S First aid and/or fire warden training
Good admin and time management.
Driving licence.
Good people skills

Additional Information
Salary Grade 5 - Starting from 29588 rising to 33002 per annum
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Please note that as of April 2024 there has been a change in the UKs sponsorship threshold. Regrettably as the salary for this role falls beneath this you will not be eligible for sponsorship therefore your application will automatically be rejected
Please Note this role will include:
Significant working in the evenings and at weekends will be required for this role.
The role is primarily based at Newton Park Campus but as you will be required to work on any of our sites you will be expected to have a driving license and ideally have access to a car for travelling out of hours.
