Are you an experienced Early Years professional ready to progress into a senior role We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Third in Charge to join a well-established nursery in Wimbledon. This is an excellent opportunity to build your leadership experience while continuing to deliver outstanding care and education for children aged 0–5.

Working closely with the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager you will play a key role in supporting the smooth compliant and high-quality operation of the nursery. You will also act as a senior practitioner within your room leading by example and stepping into management responsibilities when required.

About the Role

As Third in Charge you will combine hands-on practice with leadership responsibilities. You will support the wider team contribute to operational tasks and help maintain a nurturing inclusive environment where children and staff can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery

  • Lead and supervise your designated room ensuring a safe stimulating and nurturing learning environment

  • Act as a positive role model promoting best practice in Early Years care learning and development

  • Plan deliver and evaluate engaging age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS

  • Support and mentor team members offering guidance and constructive feedback

  • Maintain accurate records observations and assessments in line with safeguarding and compliance requirements

  • Build strong professional relationships with children families and colleagues

  • Assist with operational tasks such as rota planning resource management and quality improvement

  • Step into management duties in the absence of senior leaders ensuring continuity and consistency across the setting

About You

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification (or above) in Early Years Education or Childcare

  • Experience working in a nursery setting ideally with senior practitioner or supervisory responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS safeguarding and early childhood development

  • Excellent communication organisational and teamwork skills

  • A positive hands-on approach with the ability to support and motivate others

  • A commitment to delivering high-quality childcare and learning experiences
