About the Role
Were looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure team in Sydney. This is a hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day operation maintenance and continuous improvement of our corporate IT infrastructure and end-user computing environment.
Youll support systems that operate 24/7 in a high-availability environment ensuring reliability and performance for teams across the business. The role requires strong technical expertise a passion for automation and the ability to work closely with Development Trading and Operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
Your Mission at Life Trading
Infrastructure Administration & Automation
- Manage Windows domain environments including Active Directory Group Policy and automated deployment systems.
- Administer Office 365 Google Workspace and EntraID (Azure AD) including user lifecycle automation and security policy management.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment solutions for desktop software services and system configurations.
- Implement and maintain configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Maintain and automate asset management systems.
Datacenter & Network Operations
- Install configure and maintain server hardware in datacenter environments.
- Support network equipment installation and basic network management including switching routing and monitoring.
- Perform rack and stack operations cable management and physical infrastructure maintenance.
- Troubleshoot network issues and monitor performance.
- Coordinate with datacenter providers and vendors for hardware maintenance and upgrades.
End-User Support & Desktop Services
- Provide desktop and laptop support across Windows and macOS environments.
- Manage hardware procurement imaging deployment and lifecycle management.
- Administer mobile device management (MDM) solutions for corporate devices.
- Provide helpdesk support and resolve technical tickets.
- Automate user onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Support office moves equipment setup and workspace reconfiguration.
Event & Project Support
- Support company offsite events with IT setup including AV equipment displays microphones and networking.
- Assist with office infrastructure projects such as technology upgrades and equipment refreshes.
- Participate in business continuity planning (BCP) testing and audit support.
- Coordinate with vendors for IT services and equipment.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain security policies across desktop and server environments.
- Ensure systems are patched and updated through automated processes.
- Support network security practices including firewalls segmentation and access control.
- Assist with compliance requirements audits and change management processes.
Other
- Adhere to company values policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with teams across the business to ensure reliable IT services.
- Perform additional duties as required.
What Were Looking For
- 4 years experience in Windows system administration and Active Directory management.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 / Office 365 and EntraID (Azure AD).
- Proven automation and scripting skills (PowerShell Python or similar).
- Solid networking fundamentals including TCP/IP DNS DHCP VLANs and routing/switching basics.
- Hardware installation and troubleshooting experience across servers desktops and networking equipment.
- Experience supporting both Windows and macOS desktop environments.
- Google Workspace administration experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Fluent English and a professional approach to end-user support.
Bonus Points For
- Experience in financial services or high-availability trading environments.
- Cloud platform exposure (Azure AWS or GCP).
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible Puppet or Chef.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware Hyper-V).
- Linux system administration experience.
- Knowledge of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
- Mobile device management (MDM) platform experience.
- Project coordination or vendor management experience.
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft CompTIA Cisco etc.).
