The Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center Food & Beverage Department is seeking to fill a full-time position for Café Supervisor. The Café Supervisor is a Café employee responsible for all facets of the Hocking Hills Café operations. The Café Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with standards policies and procedures such as basic food preparation techniques basic recipes conduct etiquette dress code complete familiarity with the menu and any subsequent day-to-day changes and completing all tasks as assigned by the Food & Beverage Manager.

Essential Functions:

Primary essential functions for this position include but are not limited to:

Café Supervisor Duties:

  • Assist in storage and inventory of all Café and Café operating supplies. Notifies the Food & Beverage Manager when product is needed with enough lead time for ordering efficiently.
  • Ensure proper training is provided for all new hires for all shift positions.
  • Communicate openly with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Office.
  • Enforce strict ServSafe HACCP food sanitation program for Café operations ensuring food is temped appropriately stored properly and labeled correctly.
  • Assist with scheduling of all Café personnel keeping in mind business levels labor budget and staffing levels.
  • Ensure that all maintenance requests are reported promptly and follow-up on requests.
  • Responsible for loss control of product and risk management programs ensuring all are following safety related programs and policies.
  • Ensure that assigned staff are adhering to risk management procedures such as wearing gloves slip resistant shoes and all other food safety & sanitation rules.

When not performing lead duties; Café Attendant Duties required:

  • Greet each guest upon arrival in a friendly outgoing manner
  • Take and prepare guests requested order
  • Restock coolers ice cream etc. as needed before during and after shift
  • Ring up guest sales and accepts method of payment
  • Set up and/or tear down Cafe area depending on shift
  • Ensuretable area is cleaned throughout the shift
  • Handle any guest complaints or issues in a professional manner
  • Maintain an accurate cash bank and complete necessary paperwork for accounting on a daily basis

Qualifications:

  • 21 or older preferred but 18 or older is required.
  • Basic reading & writing skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to make simple mathematical calculations as they apply to recipes budgeting and inventory
  • Ability to work any shift weekends and holidays
  • Ability to train Café Attendants in all areas of operation preparation/presentation to prep work to entry level kitchen work.
  • Previous experience of at least 1 season as a Café Kitchen or other lodge position relating to food preparation preferred.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills particularly in regards to training employees.
  • Proven interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with management front of house personnel and guests.
  • ServSafe Level One Certification preferred if not current must attend next scheduled Company provided class.
  • Experience with computerized food ordering system and experience with Word and Excel software.
  • Ability to quickly assess productivity levels of Café Attendants during any given meal period.
  • Ability to recognize safety hazards and correct them immediately.
  • Ability to reach bend stoop wipe push and pull
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Must have a professional courteous and friendly manner
  • Previous cash handling/customer service experience
  • Must be able to occasionally bend/stoop squat reach above shoulder level crouch kneel and repeatedly carry up to 50 lbs and stand for several hours at a time
  • Must have sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks within service time frames established by the company
  • Must be able to perform tasks in a safe manner and adhere to company policies and procedures

Regular attendance in conformance with the schedule is essential to the successful performance of this position.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel operation. Please see your department or scheduling manager.

Work schedule prescribed by the Food and Beverage Manager. Work overtime when requested and approved.

You and your team must accept the role of an ambassador of the property for our guests. You make a major impression upon our guests regarding their stay at our property. Model the right behavior by doing the right thing for our guests.

Professionally represent the hotel and property when interacting with guests from the community and industry organizations.

Proper uniform is required and maintaining a neat clean and well-groomed appearance per policy. Must comply with department appearance guidelines.

Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Channel guest comments or unsatisfactory reports to the Food and Beverage Manager or Supervisor on duty.

Communicate shift/daily operations information business needs repair and equipment needs to Management Team.

Notify your manager within 24 hours in the event you may have been injured on the job. Fill out any injury forms as required.

The individual must possess the job knowledge skills and abilities as well as be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job. This being with or without reasonable accommodation using a combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience:Prior customer service experience preferred.
Licenses or Certificates:State requirements for first aid required.
