The Position
The Flight Line Crew Member plays a critical role in supporting daily flight operations by ensuring aircraft are safely prepared serviced and positioned for training and testing activities.
This is a hands-on role working directly on the flight line supporting aircraft ground handling fueling operations and coordination with maintenance and flight crews to maintain safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Aircraft Ground Operations
- Marshal aircraft during arrivals and departures using standard aviation hand signals
- Tow park and secure aircraft using approved ground handling equipment
- Perform aircraft refueling oil servicing and replenishment of consumables
- Conduct visual pre- and post-flight walk-around checks for visible damage or irregularities
- Maintain cleanliness of aircraft exteriors and cockpits as required
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company and Transport Canada safety regulations
- Report discrepancies hazards or maintenance concerns to the Flight Line Supervisor
- Participate in safety briefings and operational improvement initiatives
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe handling procedures for fuels and materials
Coordination & Communication
- Communicate aircraft status with flight crews maintenance personnel and operations staff
- Assist maintenance teams by positioning aircraft and preparing ground support equipment
- Support aircraft dispatch and flight scheduling operations
- Maintain accurate records of fueling quantities and line servicing activities
Ground Support Equipment
- Operate and maintain ground support equipment including:
- aircraft tugs
- ground power units (GPU)
- hydraulic carts
- fueling equipment
- Maintain tools equipment and ramp areas in safe working conditions
Additional Operational Support
- Assist visiting aircraft and flight crews
- Support winter operations including snow removal and ramp readiness
- Perform other operational duties as required to support flight line activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous aviation ramp ground handling or flight operations experience preferred
- Knowledge of aircraft fueling procedures and ramp safety practices is an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail situational awareness and teamwork skills
