Job Summary
Job Title: Registered Nurse Medical Surgical
Location: St. Johnsbury VT
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day (3x12-Hour Shifts)
Hours: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
Compensation:
Weekly Gross Pay: $1800 $2000 (based on experience)
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive patient care in a dynamic acute care setting. This role primarily focuses on adult patients with occasional exposure to pediatric cases. The ideal candidate will be adaptable patient-focused and skilled in managing diverse clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct patient care across medical surgical outpatient observation swing bed and limited pediatric services
Utilize the nursing process to assess plan implement and evaluate patient care
Address patients physical psychosocial spiritual and developmental needs
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Work under the guidance of unit leadership and alongside clinical nurse leads
Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
Required Certifications & Licensure:
Active Vermont RN License (or Compact License)
Basic Life Support (BLS) AHA
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Required Experience:
Minimum 3 years of acute care experience
Strong background in adult Medical-Surgical nursing
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Meditech EMR
Exposure to orthopedic (Ortho) patient care
Basic pediatric care experience (not pediatric-only candidates)
Specialty Requirements:
Med-Surg Adult
Med-Surg Orthopedics
Ability to manage occasional pediatric cases
Work Environment:
Acute care hospital setting with a diverse patient population
Collaborative team-oriented environment
Requires adaptability across multiple care settings
Additional Notes:
This is not a dedicated pediatric unit; strong adult care experience is required
