Job Summary
Chartwells Higher Edis hiring an energetic and growth mindedSOUSCHEFon the campus of theUNIVERSITY of HOUSTON. This key culinary role will help lead the successful operation of the COUGAR WOODS Dining Commons food service team. Cougar Woods features exciting stations including: La Mesa Garden Bar Sugar Rush Bold Bistro World Table Pit Stop Ciao Chow and Delicious Without. There is a pair of smokers located just outside Cougar Woods where meats are expertly smoked for the Pit Stop station.
As a culinarian within our dining programs you will be hands on with menu development and preparation infusing creativity and precision into every dish. This role entails helping supervise budgeting and food costing ensuring client and customer satisfaction and fostering employee training and growth. You will supervise hourly associates and you work with Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering With Chartwells rapid growth trajectory theres immense potential for you to advance expertly and make an immediate impact in our culinary landscape!
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists theExecutive Chef with managing cost controls and control expenditures for the account
- Assists theExecutive Chef with planning and creating menus
- Produces and execute catering events
- Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
- A.S. or equivalent experience
- Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience depending upon formal degree or training
- Catering experience a plus
- High volume complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable
- Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality production sanitation food cost controls and presentation
- Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word Excel and Power Point) Outlook E-mail and the Internet
- Must be willing to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities
- ServSafe certified - highly desirable
