Maintenance Carpenter Repair

Western Reserve Academy is a private boarding school for grades 9 through 12 located in the scenic town of Hudson Ohio. Our 190-acre campus named one of Americas most beautiful features green lawns extensive athletic fields academic buildings residence halls dining and student life facilities.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for maintenance carpentry of all Academy owned buildings structures and furnishings.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Fabricate Install repair and replace doors windows flooring ceiling materials glass building hardware screens plastic laminate sheetrock/drywall painting and texturing building insulation roofing etc.
2. Perform selective demolition of walls ceilings and floors during remodel of buildings including site cleanup.
3. Fabricate replace and repair furniture cabinets fixtures woodwork etc.
4. Pick up and deliver materials furniture supplies etc. on and off campus when required.
5. Assist other trade technicians in facility repairs and maintenance.
6. Assist in the completion of special event setup operation and breakdown including parking detail and other assistance during events preparing dorms and faculty homes and apartments for event guests.
7. Assist in the completion of Faculty moves on campus.
8. Will be part of the campus snow crew.
9. Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designated representatives.

Physical Demands:

1. The employee regularly uses hands and arms to handle tools controls and objects and communicates verbally. Frequent activities include walking climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching or crawling. Lifting requirements include up to 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds frequently and over 100 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close distance color peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus.
2. The employee may work near moving machinery outdoors in varying weather or at heights and may be exposed to electrical hazards chemicals wet or humid conditions or vibration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Competencies and Essential Functions:

1. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; understand enforce and follow safety procedures; knowledge of building trades repairs and maintenance; ability to use hand and power tools.
2. Skill in the use of computers preferably in a PC Windows-based operating environment.
