Job Responsibilities
- Manage the balance sheet reporting effectively by ensuring that assets and liabilities are appropriately accounted for.
- Provide oversight of the suspense account processes and reconciliations performed by the operational areas.
- Ensure proper governance processes are established and maintained to manage balance sheet and suspense accounts processes.
- Collaborate with Business Operations and Group Finance to ensure accurate balance sheet and suspense account reporting.
- Ensure that the financial and business information adheres to audit requirements and is easily available for review by embedding good internal control processes.
- Implement efficiencies related to the balance sheet and suspense account processes through automation.
- Report on the Financial results and position by compiling interpreting and presenting management packs.
- Assist in the achievement of Business As Usual (BAU) and strategic initiatives.
- Build and maintain collaborative business relationships and understand the business strategy and operations through ongoing engagement with stakeholders.
- Maintain financial independence and integrity by adopting a sound level of objectivity in all practices.
- Provide management with meaningful information to make informed decisions.
- Provide ongoing support to stakeholders by addressing ad hoc queries and requests.
- Support the achievement of the business strategy objectives and values by reviewing Nedbank and Business Unit Plan and ensuring delivered systems process services and solutions are aligned.
- Identify training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from management.
- Ensure all personal development plan activities are completed within specified timeframe.
- Share knowledge and industry trends with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction.
- Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholders businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
- Contribute to a culture conducive to the achievement of transformation goals by participating in Nedbank Culture building initiatives (e.g. staff surveys etc).
- Participate and support corporate responsibility initiatives for the achievement of business strategy.
- Seek opportunities to improve business processes and systems by identifying and recommending effective ways to operate and adding value to Nedbank.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
- Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
- Professional Qualifications/Honours Degree
Preferred Qualification
- Relevant Professional Qualification or Honours Degree in Accounting or Finance (Essential)
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) qualification (Preferred)
Minimum Experience Level
- 23 years experience in an accounting or financial management role preferably within a banking or financial services environment.
- Proven experience inbalance sheet management including oversight of suspense accounts and reconciliations.
- Demonstrated exposure toaudit processes governance frameworks and internal control environments.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to supportfinancial reporting and decision-making.
- Exposure toprocess improvement and automation initiatives will be advantageous.
