About the Team & the Position
The System Design Division plays a critical role in AEMOs success driving the organisations collaborative and industry-wide efforts in meeting the challenges of a transitioning energy system. The Division includes specialist areas in system planning forecasting future energy systems as well as onboarding and connections.
The Market Operability team is seeking a Principal Analyst to undertake advanced energy modelling and analysis for the east coast gas and electricity systems. The team is responsible for the delivery of Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO) operability forecasting for the Integrated System Plan (ISP) for the National Electricity Market (NEM) and integrated gas and electricity modelling for the ISP.
As a Principal Analyst you will be responsible for providing strategic direction to key reports overseeing modelling and analysis and communicating results to various internal and external stakeholders. You will use a mix of forecast methods for the gas and electricity markets and modelling techniques focused on system optimisation over the short medium and long-term. The Principal Analyst will lead model developments and improvements affecting short-term modelling to better analyse the reliability of the future energy system and support the development of the ISP
