DescriptionUnder the direction of the Director of Operations Technology and Business Development the Simulation Operations Specialist is responsible for the technical operations of the campus-wide simulation center (CHIPS). This position will set up operate and maintain the vast array of simulation technology (e.g. task trainers low and high-fidelity manikins software management systems and audiovisual systems).
Responsibilities- Plans and implements simulation events.
- Collaborates with the course director to ensure scenario programming (e.g. AV system manikin etc.) coordination of scheduling and internal resources and comprehensive event documentation.
- Facilitates the use operations and audiovisual capture of various simulation modalities including task trainers manikins and standardized patients.
- Identifies and adheres to best practices for simulation operations specialists including certification as an operations specialist.
- Edits and archives media generated from simulation events and debriefs including photographs videos etc.
- Expands the field of healthcare simulation; networks and collaborates with other healthcare simulation programs.
- Serves as an ambassador of UT Health Science Center simulation program in local regional and national simulation venues/settings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in a related field or equivalent in a health-related field.(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience performing comparable duties and responsibilities described above; OR Associates Degree and three (3) years of related work experience; OR a combination of education and related work experience to equal five (5) years. (Experience supporting simulation operations experience/degree in engineering or experience/degree in human factors is preferred).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of relevant information technology including software and hardware used to run a simulation center.
- Ability to cross-train and support operational staff.
- Skill in coordinating and managing complex schedules calendars activities and events.
- Strong presentation and communication skills required.
- Strong critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
WORK SCHEDULE:This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends.
