Principal Protection Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Protection Engineer to join our team. Responsibilities
- Lead the design configuration and commissioning of protection systems for T&D and renewable energy projects.
- Develop and review protection schemes including relay settings coordination studies and fault analysis.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
- Conduct system studies including load flow short circuit and stability analysis to ensure optimal system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers design engineers and field technicians to ensure seamless project execution.
- Stay updated on industry standards emerging technologies and best practices in protection engineering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex protection system issues ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation including reports specifications and drawings for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in protection engineering with a focus on T&D and renewable energy systems.
- Proficiency in the design configuration and testing of protection relays from leading manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of power system protection principles including fault analysis and relay coordination.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC IEEE and NERC.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
