Principal Protection Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Protection Engineer to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the design implementation and maintenance of protection systems within the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Renewable Energy sectors. Responsibilities

  • Lead the design configuration and commissioning of protection systems for T&D and renewable energy projects.
  • Develop and review protection schemes including relay settings coordination studies and fault analysis.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Conduct system studies including load flow short circuit and stability analysis to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project managers design engineers and field technicians to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Stay updated on industry standards emerging technologies and best practices in protection engineering.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex protection system issues ensuring minimal downtime and maximum reliability.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation including reports specifications and drawings for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in protection engineering with a focus on T&D and renewable energy systems.
  • Proficiency in the design configuration and testing of protection relays from leading manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of power system protection principles including fault analysis and relay coordination.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC IEEE and NERC.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
