South Coast Baptist College is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher in Food Technologies & Textiles (Years 710) to join our Secondary team. This role provides the opportunity to inspire students through both practical and theoretical learning inFood Technologies and Textiles supporting their development as confident creative and capable learners.
Working closely with the relevant learning area heads the successful applicant will deliver engaging and hands-on learning experiences that help students develop practical skills in food preparation nutrition textile production and design processes while promoting safe and responsible practices in practical learning environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Home Economics lessons aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum - Design and Technologies.
- Teach students practical and theoretical skills in food preparation nutrition kitchen safety textiles and design processes.
- Foster a dynamic classroom kitchen and textile learning environment where students feel supported to participate develop independence and build confidence.
- Implement effective classroom management and safety procedures to ensure safe and productive kitchen and textile workshop environments.
- Promote safe food handling and responsible use of equipment in accordance with relevant health safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning assessment design and faculty initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Home Economics Technician to coordinate resources and preparation for practical lessons.
- Integrate technology and contemporary teaching practices to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Maintain strong communication with parents and contribute positively to the wider school community.
- Participate in professional learning staff meetings and reflective teaching practices to continually develop teaching excellence.
- Uphold and model the Christian values and ethos of South Coast Baptist College.
Position Requirements
- A recognised teaching qualification and TRBWA registration (or eligibility).
- Demonstrated experience teaching Home Economics Food Technology or Design & Technologies at the Secondary level.
- Strong knowledge of food safety nutrition textiles and practical classroom management in kitchen or workshop environments.
- Confidence using educational technology to support teaching and learning.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills when working with students parents and colleagues.
- A commitment to the Christian mission and ethos of South Coast Baptist College.
Essential Criteria
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Active involvement in a Church or Christian community exemplifying Christian beliefs behaviour and practices.
- Acceptance of the Colleges Statement of Faith.
- Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the board principal staff students and parents.
- Commitment to personal best practice and professional integrity.
- Ensure decision-making is informed impartial and fair.
- Model appropriate and respectful channels of communication.
- Act in the best interests of the College and its ethos at all times.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current Working With Children Card.
