BMI UK&I have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Key Account Executive (Pitched Roofing) to join our team. Reporting to the National Account Manager this role is based in Milton Keynes.

Role Summary

The purpose of this role is to drive the adoption and integration of BMIs comprehensive system offerings into the Repair Maintenance and Improvement (RMI) market. This will be achieved by providing solution-oriented value to both clients and merchants with a specific focus on maximizing the utilization of our SpecMaster systems and guarantees.

As the Key Account Executive your key responsibilities will be:

  • Key Account Management: Proactively manage and maintain relationships with key accounts not falling within defined Quadrants ensuring their satisfaction and continued business.

  • Business Development & Growth: Drive new business opportunities through a proactive approach identifying and converting prospects into loyal customers.

  • Sales Forecasting & Demand Planning: Develop and manage accurate sales forecasts and demand plans to ensure optimal product availability and resource allocation.

  • Strategic Alignment: Ensure all business development and account management activities are fully aligned with overall portfolio strategies and target market objectives.

  • CRM Management: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of all customer interactions activities and opportunities within the C4C (Customer for Customer) system.

  • National Account Support: Provide dedicated support to the National Account Director specifically assisting with initiatives and relationships concerning National Merchants.

  • Customer Engagement: Conduct a minimum of 16 proactive phone calls to customers each week to develop relationships identify needs and drive engagement.

Your key skills and experience will include:

Key Skills:

  • Solution Selling: Ability to identify customer pain points and present BMIs system offerings (especially SpecMaster) as comprehensive solutions rather than just selling products.

  • Technical Product Knowledge (Pitched Roofing/Building Materials): In-depth understanding of pitched roofing systems components (tiles underlay fixings ventilation) and relevant building regulations. Familiarity with the RMI (Repair Maintenance and Improvement) market specifics is crucial.

  • Specification Expertise: Strong understanding of building specifications specifically how BMIs SpecMaster system generates and supports robust guaranteed specifications for projects. This includes understanding design liability and weather-tightness guarantees.

  • CRM Proficiency (SAP C4C): Demonstrated experience with SAP C4C for managing accounts tracking activities forecasting and pipeline management. This is a critical operational skill for the role.

  • Forecasting & Demand Planning: Analytical skills to accurately forecast sales and contribute to demand planning aligning with supply chain capabilities.

  • Business Development: Proven ability to proactively identify qualify and develop new business opportunities.

  • Negotiation & Closing: Strong negotiation skills to secure profitable deals and close sales effectively.

  • Communication (Verbal & Written): Excellent communication skills for customer interactions (especially over the phone) presentations and internal reporting. The 16 phone calls per week highlights the importance of this.

  • Relationship Building: Ability to build and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients (including key accounts outside Quadrants) and merchants.

  • Time Management & Organisation: Efficiently manage a diverse workload including account maintenance proactive outreach and reporting to meet weekly targets.

  • Problem-Solving: Aptitude for identifying challenges and developing effective solutions for clients particularly when integrating BMI systems.

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with internal teams particularly in supporting the National Account Director and aligning with portfolio strategies.

  • Adaptability: Capacity to navigate a dynamic RMI market and respond to evolving customer requirements.

  • Technical Aptitude: A willingness and ability to quickly grasp and articulate the technical benefits and features of complex roofing systems and digital tools like SpecMaster.

Key Experiences:

  • Experienced in a sales or business development role within the building materials or construction industry ideally with a focus on roofing or full system solutions.

  • Direct experience selling into the Repair Maintenance and Improvement (RMI) market segment.

  • Proven track record of managing key accounts and driving new business.

  • Demonstrable experience utilizing a CRM system with strong preference for SAP C4C.

  • Experience with specification selling or supporting architects/specifiers would be highly advantageous given the emphasis on SpecMaster.

  • Exposure to or understanding of guarantees and warranties in the construction sector.
