As a Mechanical Engineer youll leverage your strong foundation in physics mathematics and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes and enable the handling assembly and disassembly of parts components sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. Youll be responsible for designing developing and modifying mechanical engineering layouts schematics and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and youll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues.Mechanical EngineeringVirtual Reality
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilledMechanical Engineerwith strongexpertiseinCAD modelingand a passion for immersive technology to help design and developVirtual Reality (VR) training simulations. In this role you will translate realworld mechanical systems equipment and processes into highlyaccurate3D modelsand interactive VR training experiences.
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principlesproficiencywith CADtoolsand an interest in applying those skills within modern simulation environments. You will collaborate closely with software developers instructional designers and domain experts to create realistic safe and effective VR training modules used by technicians engineers and field personnel.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering-to-VR Asset Creation
Translate complex mechanical drawings CAD models and specifications intoaccurate VR-ready 3D models and assemblies.
Maintaincorrect scale tolerances interfaces and part relationships consistent with engineering intent.
Interpret incomplete or ambiguous engineering data and collaborate with subject-matter experts to resolve issues.
Create high quality virtual reality simulation using the framework
Align with SME and other team members formechanicalaccuracyandtimelydelivery.
Build assemblies and sub-assemblies suitable for interactive training including exploded views and service-oriented breakdowns.
2. Real-Time Optimization for VR
Create real-time-ready geometry using best practices for VR and game engines including clean topology efficient UV layouts andappropriate polygonbudgets.
Bake high-poly detail into low-poly assets using normal maps and supporting texture maps.
Optimizeassets fordrawcalls texture memory usage and shader complexity based on VR performance constraints.
3. Texturing Materials and Visual Clarity
Create high-quality Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials using metal/roughness workflows.
Produce textures decals and material variants that enhance realism while supporting training clarity.
Develop visual variants such as simplified models cutaways highlights and color-coded components to support instructional goals.
Ensure materials respond correctly across varied lighting conditions used in VR training scenarios.
4. Workflow Reviews and Delivery
Follow a consistent end-to-end modeling pipeline from CAD ingestion through mesh preparation optimization texturing review and final polish.
Prepare assets with clean hierarchies pivots naming conventions and documentation for seamless integration into VR applications.
Participatein design and technical reviews incorporating feedback from engineers developers and instructional designers.
Required Qualifications
5 years of professional experience creating real-time 3D assets for VR games simulation or interactive training.
Strongproficiencywith at least one major DCC tool such as Blender Maya or 3ds Max.
Demonstratedexperience with real-time asset optimization including LODs baking and texture optimization.
Mechanical engineering background (degree or equivalent practical experience) with the ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD data.
Portfoliodemonstratinghard-surface and mechanical modeling with evidence of real-time optimization.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Experience developing assets for industrial equipment manufacturing tools or technical training content.
Knowledge of 3D engine link Unity 3D and Unreal
Familiarity with Unity or Unreal Engine for validating scale lighting and performance.
Experience working with CAD-to-real-time conversion pipelines.
Understanding ofVR-specific usability considerations such as scale perception visual comfort and interaction clarity.
