About GCS Group
GCS Group is a growing telecom infrastructure contractor based out of Red Deer Alberta. We specialize in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and underground utility installations. Our crews work hard stay busy and are rewarded for their commitment. Were currently expanding our locating team and have an opening for a Junior HDD Locator to join us on active telecom projects.
The Opportunity
This is an entry-level locating position ideal for someone who has completed the required training and is ready to build real-world field experience. Youll be working alongside experienced operators and locators on live telecom projects learning the ins and outs of underground locating in a fast-paced productive environment.
What Youll Be Doing
- Performing locate duties on active HDD telecom installations
- Using SubSite locating equipment to track and guide drill heads
- Communicating clearly with drill operators during bore operations
- Documenting bore paths and marking utilities in the field
- Following all site safety protocols and company procedures
What Were Looking For
- All required locating certifications must be in hand before your first day no exceptions
- Familiarity with SubSite locating equipment
- Some exposure to Ditch Witch HDD equipment is an asset
- Reliable punctual and safety-conscious
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying Alberta weather conditions

HDD LOCATOR - TELECOM
GCS is looking for competent and experienced Horizontal Directional Drilling Locator to work on telecom installation projects in the Red Deer area. The successful candidates will be determined by their experience and attitude toward working in demanding environments with long hours.

REQUIREMENTS
- A valid Class 5 drivers license with clean drivers abstract
- Ground Disturbance Level 2 training certification
- CSTS 2020 certification
