Brass Hat is creating a specialty coffee andcafé concept located within Hotel Indigo Hattiesburg part of the LRC2 Management portfolio of boutique and branded hotel properties across Mississippi. Brass Hat is dedicated to delivering an elevated locally inspired guest experience through quality craft beverages genuine hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the character of Hattiesburg.
Position Summary
The Barista is responsible for crafting high-quality beverages providing warm and attentive guest service and maintaining a clean and organized counter. This is a guest-facing hands-on role that serves as the heart of the Brass Hat experience. The ideal candidate is friendly detail-oriented eager to learn the craft of coffee and takes genuine pride in the experience they deliver to every guest.
Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks drip coffee teas and other menu items according to Brass Hat recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain consistency in drink quality portion control and presentation with every order
- Operate espresso machines grinders and brewing equipment properly and safely
- Stay knowledgeable about the full Brass Hat menu including seasonal offerings and pastry selections
Guest Experience
- Greet every guest with a friendly welcoming attitude and provide prompt attentive service
- Engage guests genuinely answer menu questions confidently and make recommendations when appropriate
- Handle guest concerns courteously and escalate to the Barista Supervisor or F&B Manager when needed
Counter Operations
- Process transactions accurately using the POS system; handle cash and credit responsibly
- Monitor product and supply levels and communicate needs to the Supervisor
- Assist with stocking restocking and rotation of product throughout the shift
- Participate in inventory counts as directed
Sanitation & Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean organized and guest-ready counter and café environment at all times
- Clean and sanitize equipment work surfaces and the surrounding area according to food safety standards and opening/closing checklists
- Adhere to all health code food handling and LRC2 hygiene standards
Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively with fellow baristas and hotel staff to deliver a seamless guest experience
- Participate in training team meetings and coaching sessions
- Support the Barista Supervisor in daily operational needs as directed
Qualifications
- Previous barista or food & beverage experience preferred; will train the right candidate
- Genuine passion for hospitality and guest service
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced guest-facing environment
- Reliable punctual and team-oriented
- Availability to work flexible shifts including mornings weekends and holidays
- ServSafe Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout a shift
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. (coffee bags supply deliveries etc.)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced temperature-variable environment
Compensation & Benefits
