Installation Leader (Mechanical Engineer III)

Job Overview

Tekberry is seeking an Installation Leader (Mechanical Engineer III) to support large-scale equipment installation and manufacturing engineering projects for our client a global leader in advanced materials and manufacturing technologies. This role is responsible for leading the installation start-up and debugging of high-volume manufacturing equipment within a fast-paced production environment.

The Installation Leader will work cross-functionally with engineering controls facilities operations and external vendors to ensure successful execution of equipment installation projects while maintaining safety quality and schedule commitments.

Responsibilities

Equipment Installation & Leadership
Lead and coordinate installation start-up and debugging of manufacturing equipment
Provide hands-on mechanical support during installation and commissioning activities
Coordinate workplans schedules and workflows for internal teams and external contractors
Manage mechanical and electrical trades during installation execution

Project Coordination & Execution
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical electrical controls facilities IT and operations
Coordinate installation plans with plant stakeholders and safety teams
Ensure alignment with project timelines milestones and deliverables

Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Troubleshoot equipment installation issues and provide technical solutions
Verify equipment build and layout against engineering drawings
Support equipment qualification and production readiness

Documentation & Compliance
Update drawings and maintain accurate equipment documentation
Ensure compliance with safety standards (OSHA ANSI ASME)
Promote and enforce safe work practices on-site

Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination
Work with vendors and suppliers to resolve equipment discrepancies
Participate in equipment checkouts and factory acceptance (as needed)

Must-Have Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics or related field
5 years of experience in manufacturing equipment installation start-up and debugging
Proven leadership experience coordinating teams schedules and workflows
Experience managing mechanical and electrical trades in industrial environments
Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD SolidWorks or Inventor
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with high-speed cable manufacturing equipment (jacketing ribbon stranding buffering)
OSHA 30 certification or strong knowledge of safety standards
Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
Familiarity with cross-disciplinary engineering (electrical process controls)

Work Environment

100% onsite at Corning Trivium Facility in Newton NC
Hands-on work within a manufacturing plant environment
May require extended hours weekends or holidays based on installation schedules
Occasional travel to vendor or supplier sites for equipment validation
