DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or designate the Team Lead Porter Services supervises Clinical Logistics staff and functions at multiple sites and provides liaison work direction and coordination in accordance with Island Health and departmental policy and procedure. The Team Lead is responsible for the successful operation of Materiel Porter Patient Porter and Mail Services functions at their designated sites. The Team Lead will liaise and coordinate with the Site Director and clinical leads on materiel transport and Equipment Depot operations and with Infection Control regarding clean equipment audits and site clutter. The Team Lead will liaise and coordinate with the Site Director clinical leads and Admitting & Patient Flow on matters related to the movement of patients throughout the site. The Team Lead will liaise and coordinate with Island Health stakeholders services and contracted vendors on matters related to Island Health Mail Services.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
A level of education training and experience equivalent to a college diploma relating to logistics/materiel management such as Business Administration and five (5) years recent related experience in a healthcare environment including at least two (2) years supervisory experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to develop and mentor individuals/ teams and organize team workload priorities
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated sound judgement analytical and problem solving skills.
- Proven knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
- Effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-directed with effective organizational time management and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively under time pressure to meet deadlines balance work priorities and resolve issues appropriately.
- High degree of proficiency with standard MS Office suite including Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Valid BC drivers license and use of a personal vehicle.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
