As an Assistant in Midwifery (AIM) your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist nursesmidwives or hospital staff in carrying out patient care duties
  • Work as part of the health care team; practice in accordance with state legislation and within the designated scope of practice
  • Answering patient/visitor/customer enquiries
  • Provide direct care to women and their families within the AIM scope of practice and level of experience
  • Will ensure women are supported through all phases of pregnancy labour and birth and the postnatal period

Essential Criteria:

  • Successful completion of Year 1 of Bachelor of Midwifery
  • Current enrolment and ongoing progress in the Bachelor of Midwifery course with a satisfactory academic record maintained.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility to manage shift work (including day & night shifts) over 7 days
