The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursings Biobehavioral Health Sciences (BHS) Department seeks candidates for a Practice Track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.
This position prepares nurse leaders to drive transformative change in healthcare delivery. We define Systems Leadership as leading within learning health systems facilitating interprofessional teams and exercising role-based nursing authority. Strategic Innovation encompasses equity-centered design digital and responsible transformation venture creation and entrepreneurial approaches to translating evidence into practice.
The faculty member will teach primarily in our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with additional contributions to undergraduate and masters programs. Our DNP curriculum develops systems leaders through:
Evidence-based practice innovation and quality improvement
Interprofessional leadership and project management
Entrepreneurial approaches to healthcare transformation
Responsibilities
Teach and mentor students using multiple modalities (in-person hybrid online)
Develop innovative curriculum that integrates real-world practice challenges
Guide DNP scholarly projects focused on systems-level implementation
Maintain active engagement with healthcare systems through practice or consultation
Doctoral degree (PhD or DNP)
RN licensure eligibility in Pennsylvania
Healthcare systems leadership expertise in:
Learning health systems and quality improvement
Interprofessional team leadership
Nursing scope of practice advancement
Innovation strategy expertise in related areas including:
Evidence-based practice implementation
Design thinking principles
System redesign projects
Entrepreneurship and venture creation
Digital and AI-driven transformation
Substantial practice experience in leadership roles
Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development
Strong analytical and communication skills
