Pump Fitting Technician

The Pump Fitter is responsible for the assembly and fitting of magnetically driven sealless pumps to ensure safe reliable and efficient operation in accordance with company and industry standards engineering drawings and customer specifications.

• Assemble strip and rebuild mag-drive sealless pumps to specification
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs
• Read and interpret engineering drawings specifications and work instructions
• Ensure correct alignment tolerances and clearances during assembly
• Inspect components for wear corrosion or damage and recommend replacements
• Use precision measuring equipment (micrometers verniers dial indicators etc.)
• Maintain high standards of workmanship cleanliness and documentation
• Comply with all health safety and environmental regulations
• Support continuous improvement activities within the workshop
• Liaise with engineering quality and production teams as required
• Complete job cards inspection reports and test documentation accurately

Essential

• Proven experience as a pump fitter mechanical fitter or rotating equipment technician
• Hands-on experience with sealless pumps (mag-drive or canned motor preferred)
• Strong mechanical assembly and faultfinding skills
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Competent use of hand tools and precision measuring instruments
• Understanding of safe working practices and risk assessments

Desirable

• Experience in chemical process oil & gas pharmaceutical or similar industries
• Knowledge of ATEX or hazardous area equipment
• Experience with pressure testing and performance testing
• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Forklift lifting & slinging or pressure testing certification (advantageous)
