Position Title: Design &DecorCarpenter Rate of Pay: $24.00 per hour Position Purpose: Maintains and repairs various buildings structures and exhibit installations. This is a seasonal/temporary position not to exceed 122 days. - Makes rough draft sketches and cost estimates including material requirements to ensure exhibit projects are constructed and installed successfully.
- Reads and interprets design drawings to translate concepts into constructed elements.
- Prepares purchase requisitions for supplies and advises on the selection of building materials that meet project specifications and safety standards.
- Maintains records and inventories to support efficient operations.
- Applies knowledge of material properties to select appropriate construction methods that support both structural and artistic requirements.
- Assist with producing visually engaging and educational exhibit environments.
- Assists with the building of displays and other projects as needed.
- Operates a variety of equipment including forklifts motorized utility carts and hand/power tools to support the installation of exhibit projects
- May instruct and lead unskilled assistants.

- Two or more years of experience in carpentry.
- Valid California drivers license to operate a utility cart and other equipment on fairgrounds.
- Familiarity with common safety rules and practices.

- Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and boom lifts.
- Must be available to work all 23 days of the annual OC Fair.
- Ability to work outside the normal business day/week as required by events and programs
Preferences: - Previous experience as a scenic carpenter set builder or in events/entertainment design creating interactive exhibits and fabricating props.
