Whats the role

As Head of Property Risk youll lead a specialist team thats genuinely different in the Australian banking landscape. This team sits in the first line and is embedded directly in deal teams working alongside relationship managers and credit partners from the outset not reviewing transactions after the fact.

Youll lead and develop a team of property and construction risk specialists supporting Westpacs Business & Wealth Division while remaining hands-on in complex transactions. Youll be involved early in opportunities attending customer meetings visiting sites reviewing valuations and shaping credit submissions with practical real world property insight.

Beyond day-to-day deal activity youll partner with the National Head of Property Risk on strategic and Groupwide initiatives contributing to governance industry engagement and market thought leadership.

This is a permanent fulltime role ideally based in Sydney supporting a team Australia wide.

What do I need

This is a leadership role for someone who wants to shape the future. Youll be a change agent with the capability and ambition to step into broader leadership over time.

Youll bring:

  • Deep experience in property valuation or real estate risk with exposure to live transactions.
  • Strong people leadership capability improving how teams operate and add value and provide coaching for future leaders.
  • The credibility and judgement to operate as a senior voice at the deal table influencing outcomes early.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to balance hands-on deal involvement with longer term priorities.
  • Aspiration and readiness to grow into a broader enterprise leadership role as part of long-term succession planning.
