Job Summary

The Sous Chef (Assistant Chef) at Café Jardin is instrumental in supporting the Executive Chef across all dimensions of operational excellence including cost optimization inventory management and food requisitions. This distinguished position encompasses the strategic management and development of kitchen staff collaboration with the Chef de Partie and the culinary team and comprehensive oversight of food production across all stations.

The Sous Chef for Café Jardin is a critical part of Wynns culinary casual-dining team by ensuring seamless coordination across all culinary stations maintaining the refined food quality standards that define Wynns luxury casual dining experience and upholds all regulatory compliance safety protocols and departmental excellence standards.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Wynns Culinary Excellence & Operational Distinction includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Uphold and advance Wynns distinguished culinary standards ensuring every plate reflects on our commitment to gastronomic excellence.
  • Cultivate and refine consistency in food quality across all service periods to consistently exceed guest expectations and enhance the premium casual dining experience.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous standards and protocols that foster a sophisticated secure and professional workplace settings.
  • Proactively identifies addresses and reports any operational concerns with decisive action to ensure an impeccable and safe culinary environment.
  • Fosters a culture of collaborative excellence empowering team members to contribute to meaningful decision-making processes and assume ownership of their roles.
  • Identify and implement best practices establishing elevated benchmarks for quality and operational efficiency that define our premium positioning.

Wynns Culinary Leadership & Team Development includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Lead with vision and purpose clearly defining roles responsibilities and performance expectations that inspire excellence and accountability.
  • Embody and champion of Wynns core values in all business conduct setting the standard for professional distinction.
  • Mentor and develop culinary talent through thoughtful coaching constructive feedback and positive reinforcement that cultivates growth and mastery.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of three (3) years of culinary management experience in a premium or luxury casual dining setting
  • Culinary degree or equivalent formal culinary training from a recognized institution is highly preferred
  • Current Food Manager Certification and valid Nevada health card; ability to demonstrate commitment to maintaining all required licensing and professional credentials
  • Proven expertise in kitchen operations management with exceptional knife skills techniques and mastery across all culinary stations
  • Demonstrates excellence in culinary artistry including sophisticated plate presentation techniques and a refined approach to menu innovation and product research
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and core computer applications with the ability to manage culinary systems and documentation with precision
  • Fluent English communication skillsboth written and verbalwith the ability to articulate ideas with professional eloquence; multilingual capabilities are highly valued
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership capability with a proven track record of directing mentoring and elevating culinary team performance
  • Exceptional ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment under high-pressure service environments while delivering consistently refined Wynn standards
  • Strategic mindset with strong organizational acumen enabling seamless prioritization deadline management and production schedule execution
  • Collaborative spirit with a commitment to contribute across all operational phases and fostering Wynns culture of culinary excellence
  • Familiarity with union environments and collective bargaining protocols is strongly preferred
