Job Summary

Essential Functions
Department Leadership Lead the strategic planning direction and assessment of Student Activities and New Student Programs including but not limited to Registered Student Organizations New Student Orientation Pre-Orientation Programs Student Governance Campus Activities and Events and KAOS Radio. Lead supervise and support the professional staff team including but not limited to Assistant Director of Student Activities Assistant Director of New Student Programs KAOS General Manager Student Organizations Advisor Productions Advisor and Office Support Supervisor. Conduct professional annual reviews in alignment with strategic plan. Adhere to collective bargaining agreements for represented staff. Provide financial leadership and authority in planning presenting and administering program budgets for Student Activities New Student Programs and KAOS Radio. Provide financial leadership and authority in forecasting and administrating multiple student fee fund programs including mandatory student fees (Services and Activities fee New Student fees Clean Energy fee and Transit fees) and optional fees (student government fee and WashPIRG fee). Guide and manage relationships with Tier I programs that are funded with Services & Activities fees including but not limited to Student Activities Childrens Center KAOS Radio Recreation and Athletics Tacoma S&A and Native Pathways Program Student Governance. Manage the College Activities Building and Student Activities & RSO -designated spaces including but not limited to budget and asset management building hours work order management security issues key access improvement and beautification projects. Facilitate regular meetings and communication with College Activities Building tenants Facilities and Police Services. Manage the relationships and contracts related to student services including but not limited to WashPIRG and Intercity Transit. Lead responsibility for departmental compliance with College policies and state and federal laws. Student Governance and Organization Advising Provide training advising and administrative support to student governance including but not limited to Geoduck Student Union and Clean Energy Committee. Provide training and budget support to satellite campus student governance including but not limited to Tacoma Services & Activities Fee Allocation Committee and Native Pathways Program Student Governance. Provide direct advising to a small number of registered student organizations in budget and resource management event planning and interpreting College policies and state and federal laws. Facilitate the production of student events including the preparation of facilities and equipment requests client services agreements and appropriate promotion and publicity. Help student groups with budget requests and advise student groups on purchasing and fundraising efforts. Advise student groups with off-campus travel plans for the group and provide appropriate risk assessment of those activities. Assist students and their respective organizations with successfully fulfilling the mission goals and objectives of their organizations. Provide mediation support for student groups that need to resolve conflicts. Review appeals of sanctions against registered student organizations and student coordinator terminations. Divisional Leadership Contribute to the effective leadership of the Student Engagement Equity and Support division including divisional goals new initiatives and emerging issues. Work collaboratively across divisions including but not limited to: Academics Enrollment Services Financial Operations Administrative Operations Advancement Marketing and Communications and Presidents Office. Serve as policy steward for College policies that apply to student activities orientation student fees and governance. College Governance Act as Co-Chair of the Clean Energy Committee. Act as Chair of the Risk Assessment Review Team to assess and mitigate event-related risks on campus. Act as Co-Chair of the First Year Experience Steering Committee. Represent division and department on college-wide work groups and standing committees as assigned including but not limited to Bias Incident Response Team Internal Communications Advisory Group Social Justice Center Advisory Group and Equity Symposium Planning Team. Administration Lead strategic communications planning and marketing initiatives to promote student leadership opportunities and campus events and activities including but not limited to email and social media campaigns print materials and website vision. Provide leadership for updating the Student Activities Handbook the comprehensive procedural handbook for student leaders and registered student organizations. Serve on College committees as requested. Work a flexible schedule including early mornings evenings late nights weekdays and weekends. Other duties as requested or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in Student Affairs Public Administration or related field. Four years of direct work experience in student activities. Administrative experience in a college student union or closely related field.
