Job FunctionThe Reynoldsburg City Schools Payroll Specialist is responsible for calculating preparing and processing payroll attendance and benefit information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) plus years of fiscal experience in payroll administration
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in school payroll or fiscal office preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Payroll Calculation
- Calculate payment of employee contracts.
- Calculate extra time overtime or other payment requirements.
Attendance Tracking
- Track and post attendance records into the payroll software.
Records Management
- Update employee records in the payroll software including but not limited to biographical information account coding EMIS coding new hire information transfer information resignations and retirements.
- Enter and maintain payroll deduction records.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
- Work with the payroll manager to assure the efficacy of all operations and those financial transactions comply with established board local state and federal standards requirements laws codes rules regulations ordinances policies and procedures.
Retirement Liaison
- Coordinate pay and serve as the state retirement liaison for the district.
Payroll Processing and Reporting
- Process bi-monthly payroll.
- Process bi-monthly monthly and annual reporting of taxes and other withholdings.
- Process W-2 and 1095 forms with accuracy.
Communication and Leadership
- Provide staff leadership maintaining open and effective communication with staff.
- Answer general questions including those requiring research or technical knowledge.
- Responsible for communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
Other Duties
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Payroll administration standards and requirements.
- Local state and federal laws and regulations related to school payroll.
- EMIS coding and account coding structures.
Skilled in:
- Operating complex payroll and computer software.
- Mathematical calculations and data entry.
- Excellent customer service and verbal/written communication.
Ability to:
- Meet deadlines with accurate information.
- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and interpretation of regulations.
- Work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Demonstrate good moral character and initiative.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push pull lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.
Working Conditions The employee primarily works in a climate-controlled office environment. The role involves high-volume data entry and requires the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet strict payroll deadlines.
Driving Requirement This position may require driving to various school sites or events.
