DTU Health Tech offer a course on Value Creation in Pharma- and Biotechnology for students in the biomedical engineering MSc education.

Responsibilities and qualifications
DTU Health Tech is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated part-time lecturer to teach and guide students in 22179 Module 3: Value creation in pharma- and biotechnology. The course focuses on how new discoveries and innovations in the bio/pharma domain can be translated into industrial commercial or societal value. Information about the course can be found in the DTU course catalogue: https: // The position is for 570 hours pr. year. The course is taught in English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach core concepts in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) with a special focus on biotechnology and pharmaceuticals including assessing novelty and deciding whether patenting is the optimal strategy for value capture.
  • Guide students in evaluating the economic and technological potential of scientific discoveries including resource savings result promoting potential and pathways for value creation.
  • Support student groups as they develop an implementation plan that includes milestones resource estimates a draft budget and a timeline for bringing a bio/pharma innovation toward value creation (e.g. spin outs industrial adoption or alternative routes).
  • Facilitate discussions on funding strategies innovation processes and stakeholder engagement within pharma- and biotechnology.
  • Supervise group work based on students master level research cases helping them evaluate industrial and commercial opportunities using real world examples.
  • Prepare students to present their implementation plans to external stakeholders and provide constructive feedback to help them improve communication and impact.

Qualifications:

  • A Masters degree (minimum requirement); a PhD or equivalent industrial experience is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of biotechnology/pharma innovation technology assessment and value creation processes.
  • Experience with IPR assessment innovation strategy technology commercialization or entrepreneurship in the life sciences.
  • Interest and/or experience in supervising interdisciplinary project based learning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds.
  • experience is desirable but not required; ability to communicate clearly and guide students is essential.

Applicants for the post of part-time lecturer must have a masters degree as well as additional qualifications at a high level for example particular areas of specialisation expertise or practical experience achieved through employment involving practical application of the discipline. Teaching qualifications form part of the basis of the assessment.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement for part-time lecturers at universities and other institutions.

Starting date is 1 September 2026.
