Role Overview:
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role during a period of rapid growth at Mars Veterinary Health Europe. The position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting while providing comprehensive accounting support to operations in France and across the wider MVHE Group.
As part of the MVH Europe Finance Operations team the Senior Accountant reports directly to the Accounting Manager SSC. The role requires close collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders including market operations finance teams clinic management and external auditors and is based in France.
The role holder will work across multiple reporting systems ensuring compliance with internal policies as well as external standards including US GAAP and local GAAP. Success in this role requires strong analytical capabilities high attention to detail and the ability to manage complex accounting processes within a dynamic fast-paced environment.
This position offers a hybrid working model with three days per week based in our Lyon office.
Key Responsibilities:
Own day-to-day accounting activities and tax management for French clinic operations
Prepare review and post journal entries in Oracle and group reporting systems (including inventory and bad debt)
Participate in annual closing preparation of statutory accounts and tax returns and auditing of accounts.
Act as a trusted accounting advisor to clinic managers
Prepare various tax returns (VAT CFE CVAE TAS2)
Coordinate with external accounting service providers and verify delivered services
Support statutory financial statements and tax reporting together with external advisors
Ensure compliance with AniCura Group accounting standards and support implementation of new policies
Monitor local accounting and regulatory developments in cooperation with advisors and SSC leadership
Contribute to ad-hoc tasks and continuous improvement initiatives

Education & Professional Qualifications:
Academic degree in Accounting Finance or a similar field
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting within large matrix organizations Shared Service Centres and/or audit firms
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Proven experience managing General Ledger processes and month/year-end closings
Experience with Oracle ERP (Oracle Cloud preferred)
Knowledge of French GAAP and/or US GAAP is highly valued
Advanced MS Office and Excel skills
Experience coordinating other accountants is a plus
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
Fluent French (mandatory) and conversational English
