Job Summary

A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Reading is seeking a motivated DT ECT to join its successful Design & Technology department from September. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate DT ECT to begin their teaching career within a supportive department that is committed to developing Early Career Teachers.

The successful DT ECT will teach Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4 working alongside experienced teachers who provide strong mentorship and collaborative support.

The Role

The school is looking for an enthusiastic DT ECT who is eager to develop their teaching practice and inspire students through creative and practical Design & Technology lessons. The successful DT ECT will be supported through a structured induction programme with guidance from an experienced mentor.

Responsibilities of the DT ECT include:

  • Teaching Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4

  • Planning engaging lessons covering design processes materials and manufacturing techniques

  • Supporting students in developing practical workshop skills and creative design thinking

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to support improvement

  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Design & Technology department

  • Show strong organisational and communication skills

  • Be committed to developing as a teacher within a supportive department
