Job Summary

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations for AIMS Companies. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data leads the month-end and year-end close processes and maintains compliance across multiple states and business units. The Controller provides strategic financial oversight while remaining hands-on with day-to-day accounting activities driving process improvements strengthening internal controls and supporting operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations
  • Lead and manage all accounting functions including AP AR payroll accounting cash management and general ledger.

  • Oversee and execute month-end and year-end close processes including reconciliations accruals journal entries and variance analysis.

  • Ensure accuracy of job costing revenue recognition and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules.

  • Maintain compliance with all multi-state tax filings and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor and manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.

Financial Reporting
  • Prepare and review timely and accurate financial statements and management reports.

  • Lead consolidated financial reporting and intercompany reconciliations across business units.

  • Develop internal dashboards and reporting tools to support decision-making.

  • Manage year-end audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.

Process Improvement & Controls
  • Design implement and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.

  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve accounting workflows reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure proper documentation of financial procedures and policies.

  • Evaluate and implement new systems tools and automation opportunities.

Leadership & Collaboration
  • Lead mentor and develop accounting staff ensuring accountability and professional growth.

  • Partner with operations project managers procurement and executive leadership to align financial insights with business strategy.

  • Provide cross-functional financial guidance and support decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting Finance or related field required (CPA preferred).

  • 7 12 years of progressive accounting experience including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting and close processes.

  • Experience in multi-state operations; job costing or construction-related industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP/accounting systems.

  • Proven ability to lead teams manage deadlines and drive process improvements.

  • Highly detail-oriented organized and analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
