Position Overview

An industrial machine shop in Bakersfield California is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to support machining repair and refurbishment of drilling tools and heavy steel components used in oilfield and water well drilling operations.

The ideal candidate is comfortable operating manual lathes mills and shop equipment and has experience machining large steel parts and restoring components to tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

Operate manual lathes mills and other machine shop equipment
Machine and repair large steel components and drilling tools
Perform precision measurements using micrometers calipers and gauges
Read and interpret mechanical drawings and shop instructions
Restore worn components to specified tolerances
Support machining operations related to tool rebuild and refurbishment
Maintain a safe and organized shop environment

Qualifications

3 years experience as a manual machinist
Experience operating manual engine lathes and mills
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Strong understanding of machining tolerances and measurement tools
Experience machining large steel components
Experience in oilfield mining or heavy equipment repair environments preferred

Preferred Skills

Drill tool repair experience
Welding or hardfacing familiarity
Fabrication experience
Mechanical troubleshooting
