Brunswick High School is seeking two full-time World Language teachers for the school year. We are looking for dynamic student-centered educators who are passionate about language instruction and global learning. The successful candidates will be able to teach all levels of either Spanish or French with preference given to applicants who have the ability to teach both languages.
Our World Language program emphasizes authentic communication cultural competence and meaningful engagement with diverse perspectives. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to helping students develop proficiency in speaking listening reading and writing while fostering curiosity about the cultures of the French- and Spanish-speaking worlds.
Responsibilities
- Teach a range of courses from introductory through advanced levels in Spanish and/or French
- Foster authentic communication through listening speaking reading and writing in the target language
- Create an engaging communicative classroom environment in which Spanish- and French-speaking cultures are central
- Design and implement lessons aligned with ACTFL World-Readiness Standards and the Maine Learning Results
- Utilize a variety of language teaching methodologies to support diverse learners
- Apply strong foundational knowledge of second language acquisition in instructional practice
- Adapt and develop curriculum to meet student needs and program goals
- Use technology effectively to enhance language learning and student engagement
- Collaborate with colleagues share best practices and contribute to a supportive professional learning community
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching grades 912
- Ability to teach both Spanish and French
- Ability to teach an additional language such as Portuguese or Italian
- Experience integrating technology into language learning
Required Qualifications
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education certification in Spanish (440) and/or French (420)
- Valid State of Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) authorization
- Bachelors degree in Spanish French or demonstrated proficiency in Spanish and/or French.
