Invention Scouting
Utilize sources of information to determine outreach candidates for KU Faculty for potential invention disclosures.
Establish contact and discuss with KU faculty to scout for new and upcoming inventions.
Technology Review
Review and participate in KU Faculty meetings to preliminarily review disclosures.
Perform technology triages which focus on all facets of the invention including: evaluating the technological aspects of the invention the market for the potential product and the intellectual property landscape.
Present technology triages at internal KUCTC meetings.
Participate in KU Faculty meetings to review the triage and responses providing support in decision making for intellectual property protection strategies.
Marketing
Develop Non-Confidential Summaries for technologies for marketing.
Develop and evaluate company contact lists that target relevant potential licensees.
Agreement Negotiation
Participate in license agreement negotiation meetings with companies.
Aid in Terms Sheet Drafting
Aid in license agreement drafting.
Additionally the Intern may have some flexibility to participate in rotations with other portions of the office as desired (i.e. Intellectual Property)

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to education experience and training qualifications relative to the requirements of the position and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
