Your role and responsibilities

Working closely with the Senior Road Safety Officer and Active Travel team you will help to develop and deliver road safety education to schools colleges and communities with the aim of reducing road casualties in Suffolk.

Youll provide education and support in communities for individuals and groups promoting road safety healthy lifestyles active travel and sustainability.

You will be the Face of SCC Road Safety to teachers pupils and members of the public.

You will need

  • To be a self-starter: willing to positively approach groups and individuals to promote road safety.
  • To be happy and confident speaking to groups of pupils and adults.

Our ideal candidate would haveexperience in an education/training road safety or behaviour change field or of working within sustainable travel promotion/education.

We hope youll bring ideas and suggest new ways of delivering road safety messages to Suffolk. No two days follow the same pattern and you will be flexible and manage your own time.

The team

The post holder will be report to the Senior Road Safety Officer. The team sits within the Transport Strategy division of the Growth Highways and Infrastructure Department.

The Transport Travel and Safety team includes specialist officers with responsibility for road safety education and training transport planning behavioural change traffic management safety engineering and the school crossing patrol service. The team works with internal partners across Suffolk County Council including Public Health and external organisations as part of the Suffolk Roadsafe Partnership. We are a lively and proactive team which is pragmatic and solutions-focussed.

The team works in a range of settings including schools colleges workplaces and within communities which support people to travel safely and sustainably.
