Job Summary

1. Overall Objectives and Responsibilities
  1. Serves as second in command supervising day-to-day operation of the Inspection Facility and primary resource when Site Supervisor is not available.
  2. Act as primary liaison between Eurofins and Client when site supervisor is not available. When needed provide relevant daily operational information with the respective regional manager and client.
  3. Train and supervise Grain Inspectors in all aspects of grain grading including sampling dividing and all factors in determining a grade in soybeans.
  4. Explain the procedure according to FGIS standards the ability to explain procedures with understanding.
  5. Support and provide leadership for safety initiatives.
  6. Responsible for accuracy in reporting results; record test results and provide information to the client of grain truck driver.
  7. Represent Eurofins Grain Inspection as a back-up to client company by acting as a liaison between facility and client grain company merchandisers when site supervisor is not available.
  8. Demonstrate ability to operate all required basic lab equipment per USDA grain standards.
  9. Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients staff and co-workers.
  10. Recommend more accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures.
  11. Maintain cooperative working relationships with all company employees. Communicate orally and in writing to co-workers when necessary.
  12. Promote the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices related to the public and our customers.
  13. Relay information to the Site Supervisor for proper action
  14. Process necessary paperwork required by the client company and Eurofins Grain Inspection
  15. Test samples of grain by accepted industry practice using visual procedure and computerized equipment test sample for weight moisture foreign material and damage; including potential mycotoxin and non-GMO testing.
  16. Adhere to and ensure that staff adheres to pertinent health safety and environmental regulations relative to the department; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean safe work environment.
  17. Serve as a back-up to ensure accurate entry of employee hours into the payroll system to support timely and compliant payroll processing.
  18. Supervise general site operations as second-in command and when Site Supervisor is not available - interface with site leads; provide guidance on procedures and/or trouble-shooting analysis methods techniques and equipment.
  19. Performs other duties activities and projects as assigned by the Site Supervisor

    5. Excellent computer skills and; Fluent in Microsoft suite programs (Excel Outlook Teams etc.)
  2. Initial Education Background
    1. High school diploma or GED with 5-10 years experience
  3. Physical Requirements
    1. The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
    2. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand sit and communicate effectively. The employee is required to use different types of equipment and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
    3. Additional requirements include the ability to stand for long periods of time repetitive movements and the presence of stairs.
  4. Work Environment
    1. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Laboratory setting that involves dust glassware and others working in close proximity.

Monday-Friday 7:30a-3:30p or 8:15a-4:15p depending on need some weekends/addl hours during harvest season
