Data Center Technician 2 (S3) About the Role
Our team is seeking a Data Center Technician to support server infrastructure within enterprise data center environments. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise in server hardware IT systems and cabling management along with excellent analytical skills attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
Technicians will also contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing including creating KB articles SOPs and process documentation while collaborating with internal and external teams to complete initiatives efficiently.
Responsibilities

Prepare stage set up and perform data center hardware startups and shutdowns (racks hard drives switches) following checklists and deployment procedures.

Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting identify root causes and replace faulty components with minimal disruption.
-
Conduct post-deployment quality checks ensuring proper grounding staging labeling and cabling according to deployment standards.

Support hardware decommissioning and refresh activities such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds.
-
Communicate report and escalate incidents to appropriate management when required.

Participate in safety briefings and required training ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
-
Collaborate with team members and share knowledge to improve operational efficiency.

Maintain ticket resolution performance aligned with KPIs and SLAs.
-
Ensure service quality accountability and ownership of data center infrastructure.

Maintain a strong customer focus and understand operational impact when resolving issues.
Requirements
-
Strong server hardware knowledge and understanding of system/component failures.
-
Experience assisting with failure analysis and identifying hardware issues.
-
Ability to track server fleet health and investigate failure trends.
-
Experience using IPMI for diagnostics.
-
Ability to administer diagnostic tools firmware updates and system tests.
-
Experience supporting real-time issue resolution during deployments.
-
Experience with Windows Server OS and WinPE administration.
-
Linux PXE services experience is a plus.
-
Basic Linux and Windows scripting knowledge.
-
Experience configuring virtual machine environments.
-
Ability to work independently and within distributed teams.
Minimum Qualifications
-
2 years of experience as a Data Center Technician.
-
Associate degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred.
-
CompTIA A or equivalent experience.
-
CompTIA Server or equivalent experience.
-
Experience with Windows OS environments.
-
MCP / MCSE certification preferred.
-
Scripting experience preferred (PowerShell Python Bash)
