We are on the lookout for a reliable and safety-focused Straddle Operator to join our Distribution Centre team. If you enjoy operating heavy machinery working in a fast-paced environment and playing a critical role in keeping freight moving this could be the role for you.
As a Straddle Operator you will be responsible for safely moving containers and freight around the yard supporting inbound and outbound operations and ensuring stock is positioned efficiently for the wider DC team.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Operating a straddle carrier to move containers safely and efficiently across the yard
- Loading unloading and stacking containers in designated areas
- Supporting the flow of goods between the yard and distribution centre operations
- Conducting daily safety checks and basic equipment inspections
- Ensuring containers and loads are positioned accurately for dispatch or receiving
- Communicating with operational teams to maintain safe and efficient yard movement
- Following all health and safety procedures while working around heavy machinery
- Assisting with yard organisation to maintain a safe and productive environment
This role will require operating large machinery at height working outdoors at times and maintaining a strong focus on safety.
Shift: Monday Friday 6:00am 2:30pm
Pay: $36.67 per hour $37.89 per hour
Qualifications :
What were looking for
- Previous straddle carrier container handler or heavy machinery experience would be advantageous
- Current relevant machinery licenses (or willingness to be trained)
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment
- Comfortable working at heights and around heavy equipment
- A positive attitude and commitment to getting the job done safely
- Training and licensing support can be provided for the right candidate.
