Location:

Columbus Metallurgical Complex Columbus MT

Schedule:

Thursday-Sunday 10 Hour workday Full Time-Exempt

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Foster an inclusive environment that promotes teamwork innovation and actively seek feedback from the workforce for continuous improvements.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment safe work practices and a strong safety culture.
  • Develop smelting furnace feed plans.
  • Plan and schedule the deliveries of plant
  • Monitor the performance of plant scrubbing gypsum precipitation and cooling systems which includes using various analytical
  • Assist operations and metallurgical engineers with recommendations on setting plant parameters.
  • Measure and assist with adjusting binding loads on the Smelters electric furnaces.
  • Prepare daily / weekly / monthly smelter samples for laboratory analysis.
  • Maintain monthly plant inventory and metal
  • Provide input and feedback on Business Improvement initiatives.
  • Track and report daily smelter production inventory and reagent consumption.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of pyro- and hydro- metallurgical processes.
  • Ability to communicate with technical specialists and to interpret technical drawings and communicate these specifications to operations crews.
  • Leadership qualities including character teamwork communication business sense and vision.
  • Well established communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite to include Word Excel) along with databases and plant historians.
  • Experience applying modern-day technology to improve process results.
  • Basic knowledge of analytical laboratory techniques instrumentation and sampling.
  • Basic knowledge of process control and instrumentation.
  • Experience with databases data historians and basic programing.
  • Exposure to safety and quality control systems.

Preferred

  • General understanding of smelter operations including wet gas handing systems preferred.
  • Experience with and understanding of health safety and environmental regulations.

Education & Experience

BS in Metallurgy Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or relevant degree or a minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience in an analytical lab or mineral processing facility.
